New Students Admitted for Spring 2024

___ - **Intended for students in their first semester at USM.** ___ This meeting is an opportunity to connect with new students in their first semester at USM, to answer any questions about USM, and to prepare you for the Priority Registration process at USM. Students should prepare for this meeting by creating a Wish List/Shopping Cart of courses. Please choose this if you would like to meet about **Summer & Fall 2024** courses. These meetings will begin **March 4th.** ___ - **Students with 53 or less completed credits** meet with their **professional advisor** for this appointment. All Undeclared and Conditionally Admitted students meet with their professional advisor. ___ - **Students with 54 or more completed credits** meet with their **faculty advisor for this appointment**. Continuing Students

___ - **Intended for continuing students (first year or sophomore standing) who have already completed a semester or more at USM.** ___ This meeting is to review classes for the upcoming academic semester/session. Students prepare a Wish List/Shopping Cart of classes prior to this meeting. These meetings typically occur from mid-March to the end of April or from mid-October to the end of November. Please choose this if you would like to meet about **Summer & Fall 2024** courses. This is a briefer meeting to discuss quick questions, change of major or minor, prior approval forms, study abroad applications, major/career exploration, or strategize about study skills. *This meeting type is not available during the Priority Registration period.*

This is a longer meeting with your assigned professional advisor to discuss questions, change of major or minor, prior approval forms, study abroad application, major/career exploration, or strategize about study skills. *This meeting type is not available during the Priority Registration period.*

Students who are in the academic outreach or probation process are part of the Academic Development process. There are resources, strategies, and opportunities to enhance your academic success throughout your time at USM. We are here to help.

Graduation Planning

This meeting is to review your progress towards your degree, and to create a graduation plan. Please use your Degree Progress Report in your MaineStreet Student Center and catalog information at: https://usm.maine.edu/course-catalogs so that you are best prepared for our meeting.

Summer Course Planning

Please choose this option to prepare you for enrolling in Summer 2024 courses. Students should prepare for this meeting by creating a WishList/Shopping Cart of courses. ___ Registration for summer classes begins on March 1.
